Just thought i'd show you how i mounted my GPS unit today. I can take it off right down to the floor when i'm not using it, that way it's never in the way. This is about a perfect place for it. It's not in the way when i shift either, so that's cool.

Happy trails!!

This is the attenna that broadcasts the signal inside the vehicle. This is what allowed me to put my GPS so far back in the vehicle and so low. Makes it nice since i don't have wires hanging all over the place. I have a 12v power supply cord too that i can use.

hey that looks nice! but where is that antennae mounted? is that seam for the back hatch?

now i want gps, dammit this is what this site does to me. its like drugs only more addictive and more expensive!

how much is the GPS service costin' you?

Its Free. You pay the 100 bucks for that garmin model, and the unit is all that you need. By the way, where did you get that antannae. We have been looking for one for a long time, and were told it wasnt made. We have the same exact GPS unit. Thanks

Yeah the antenna is in front of the back hatch, guess i should have mentioned that!

I actually found the antenna on EBAY, i think it came from a guy from EasyGPS.com. They had pretty good service and it was pretty cheap too. I'm anxious to actually put it to use and see how well it works.

Happy trails!!

thats cool, thats where I put my GPS antenna in my Explorer too. Here's where I've got my GPS mounted:

Best money I've ever spent is on that GPS.

Well, i'd like to see it Matt but it's not working. I tried to paste the url in my browser and that did work either.

Happy trails!!

hmm I dunno, its working for me... anyone else having the problem?

Nope I see it fine.

Nice I have the ledgend. Where did you get the mount.

Now i can see it! Pretty nice.

The mount is just a universal cell phone mount that my boss gave me for my cell phone, but my phone wouldn't fit so he just gave it to me. It works perfect for my GPS.

Happy trails!!

HOW DO YOU ATTACHED THE PHOTO. I wnated to attached one to show how I did mine!!!!

If you will be come an elite explorer you have the option of attaching a photo. If you aren't elite, then you will have to up load to a site like webshots and then put a link on here for us to click on.

Happy trails!!

Yep... bringing this thread back from the dead, almost. Josh how you likeing this GPS setup? I was thinking about doing a similar one, with an eTrex legend and an external antenna. Does the antenna accually connect into the unit, or does it just boost signal strength to the inside of the cab? Anything else that you like or don't like about your GPS setup would be good to hear. Thanks!

yeah, i have the Legend. Wondering how the antenna works.......... Ran into the same wall. I was told that I couldn't buy an antenna.

Thanks
John

How do you like the Legend, how are the roadmaps that come programed onto it, are they detailed at all? What else do you think about it? Thanks.

P.S. - Sorry to get a little off topic.

The antenna works great. It just boost the signal inside the truck. I'd buy another one in a heart beat. I always get full signal no matter what, unless i'm in tree cover, but it's great.

I love my GPS setup, it's good and sturdy don't have to worry abou the until sliding around or anything.
