How do I stop my head unit from sliding out of the dash? I have no idea. The stereo came with two silver pieces of metal which are bent on one end and some spring thingy. It also came with several screws but those seem to have no place in my set up. I have a 1997 explorer sport with the premium sound system. The stereo is a Pioneer 4100 45W'er. Btw, the stereo sounds great and has plenty of power (almost too much) w/out bypassing the factory amp.

Well, there should be a frame that the head unit slides into...What is sliding the head unit or both the unit and metal frame?
after I know I can tell ya how to fix it...Pete

Please bear with me but I'm new to all this. The only 'frame' I know of is one that looks like it was attached to the head unit at the pioneer factory. I basically took the head unit out of the box, hooked up the harness, and slid the head unit into the dash through the mounting kit. There is a small triangular piece that attaches to the back of the head unit which slides on a rail in the dash but it does nothing more than keep the back from moving around. The unit still can slide right out of the mounting kit.

There should be the mounting kit that you install. Then from the Cd player there should be a small metal box that slides into the mounting kit...Then ya connect the wires and the head unit should lock into the metal frame. The metal fram gets hooked into the mounting kit, then it all locks together.

Ok, first your going to need some duck-tape, a hot glue gun....

No seriously, he's right. There should be a rectangular metal cage that fits around the head unit like a sleeve. On that there should be some tabs you can bend out to wedge it in there. Then you slide the head unit into it and it locks in place. Piece of cake.

Heh, ok I found the frame you guys are talking about. I found my documentation on my head unit and it described exactly what you are saying. yes it is a piece of cake and I have it installed properly. Thanks a lot for the help guys!
