I've been working on this project for some time now. I've actually been collecting and making parts for over a year. I finally got it all together last weekend. It's about 75% done and needs a little refinement before I paint it, but it's functional right now. And I think it came out great. Check it out.

It still needs a seal where the pipe slides into the hood and a little tinkering under the hood. I'd love to make it power actuated but not til I've figured everything else out.

 um WOW thats really Creative, cant wait to see the finished product...:D

how bout some under hood shots??

PEACE

I can get an underhood pic tomorrow when it's light. Stay tuned...

Up periscope, LOL! That's thinking outside the box! Damn creative!

how do you open your hood? is there some flexible tubing under that?

Thats a pretty cool idea :)

Looks suspiciously like mine....

holy bajesus! coolest mod ive seen yet!!

I deffinetally want to see some pics of the final product and how it turns out.

The whole post/pipe and scoop slides up and out so I can open the hood.

then how does it seal water out?

that is cool... nice mod..

Mike

Isn't that in the drivers view??? Looks kind of cool other wise...

Go buy a fernco connector (rubber pipe connector), It should work great as a seal

Give it time, it will! ;)

That looks like an awsome mod. Can't wait to see under the hood, and it all painted up!

Here's uan under the hood shot. The snorkle slides into the airbox on the right. As you can see the seal around the pipe at the hood is not crucial. The seal around the pipe at the airbox is good and tight and prevents water from getting into the airbox. But I do plan on sealing at the hood. Just looking for the propper weatherstripping. The snorkle does get in the driver's view but not enough for me to worry. (Man does my engine look dirty in that pic.!)

Oh baby, that looks nice! I don't really have a need for one, but it makes me want to! What did you get the top vent off of? I think it would be cool too just to have it sitting on the hood, but wouldn't give the same depth range.
