I just purchased a used '92 explorer (eddie bower package) last week and found that the overdrive is not engaging. Stupid me...I should have made sure this was all working, but I didn't really take it "out" to far from the dealer and am now screwed cause it is "as-is". Anyway, there is no O/D button that I can find anywhere. It does have an O/D location on the gear shifter panel, but I can be at 55 MPH in regular drive, move it to O/D and it does not shift into it. This can be really expensive on gas since I do drive alot...I was hoping really hoping that it will be an semi-easy fix, like maybe a wire lose or something like that....or even a lost O/D button somewhere. Other than that, it shifts in every other gear beautifully, it runs and looks great!! Could this be a trans problem? or computer? or something? Someone please help me!!!
Brian.
