Hello, I just bought a 1998 4x4 XLT and I am not sure if the final overdrive gear is kicking in. The rpm is 2500 at 70 mph. Is this the right rpm? Seems kind of high to me. Maybe the gearing is a little lower for the 4x4? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That is what my 02 Sport normally runs at. Well, made just a hair under.

Agreed. My 98 XLT 4-dr runs about that. Not in overdrive its running in the 3,000s

Thanks fellas, I think I counted four shifts today(5th gear final overdrive), so your right the rpms seem to be where they are supposed to be. By the way Cool WebSite!

Brett.

Thanks Brooklyn

This site is great, went looking around and found Bob Wiersema's post on OBD ll. Good Stuff! You guys are a great resource!

Thanks very much,

Brett
