I have a 2001 Ford Explorer sport and i am planning on getting an exhaust system put in, and here are my plans for it.

Cherrybomb Pro Muffler with 3 inch offset inlet
3 inch pipes
finish off with a nice tip (anyone know some good ones?)

any suggestions because, to be honest, im kinda new at this.

Thanks

Check the 4.0 sound clips thread at the top of the modified 95-01 forum. I have a few in there. I was running the pro on my old sport, but I had the OHV, and it sounded great. I'm now running a Cherrybomb Vortex on my Frontier 4.0. There is a member here with the Vortex on his SOHC and it sounds really well, I think it might be one of the best SOHC exhausts I have heard. BTW I picked up my vortex from Pepboys for about $60, after I price matched it from the Autozone website. Do you have single in or dual in?

Dan

Found this soundclip after some searching.

The members name is Shortstack.

Is there any way to do dual outlets without loosing the spare from underneath? This is on a 98 Sport. Like maybe over the top of the leaf spring. I'd rather not take out the spare, if possible.

3 inch would cause a sever loss of backpressure.

I'd go with 2.5" max. What size engine do you have?

It is possible, just have to find a shop that would do it, and your going to pay a decent amount for it. I would stick with the single pipe for simplicity, performance is not going to be any different or better with dual pipes. A 3" tailpipe might be too large, but I don't see it being a major problem. 2.5" would be your best bet though.
