My "reliable" 96 strikes again... Regear?

Yes but that requires tools and knowledge the op may not possess. It's also quite a bit more work. You can't just bolt in new gears and run it

So I was missing something then.

I was looking to swap axles. I have done re-gears before and it's just such a pain. Only reason I was thinking of a regear was because of the bad bearing.

Anyway I put in repair bearings and those now lasted 100 miles and coated my brakes in gear oil. Looks like my axles are shot because they're all pitted and the seals being pushed out further is causing them to leak. I just ordered factory stock bearings from Ford and will put them in. Hopefully they will be ok and I won't have to replace axles too. This truck is teetering on being parted out. Every week it just seems to be something else.
