Hey all! I am an owner of a "new to me" 1996 ford explorer. 4.0 V6 2WD. I have never owned a ford of any kind. This has been a new thing for me. So we bought it a few weeks ago, changed the fuel filter, brake line. Its been cutting out when you try and drop into drive. So we took it to the shop yesterday, the EGR is bad. I knew this already from reading the forums on here. Tried to get it off myself. It wouldnt move. BTW I also cleaned the AIC, pretty nasty. Back to the repair shop. They called and told us that the intake manifold was cracked.
I was just wondering is this something that happens often? The body itself has 200k on it but the motor has 70k on it. Just wondering. Right now the repairs are at 300 dollars. Can anyone give me some ideas on what the repair cost is going to be for the intake manifold?
