I might go for that look, Hartman. It gives the perception of having a roll pan but at the same time get the durability (strength) of a stock bumper. I imagine I could cut the front of the rear bumper (closest to the body) 3" all around and cut the frame as well. I know there's more trimming here and there but basically that's what I need to do, correct?

Yeah basically. Trim the bumper down, trim the frame, trim the plastic pad on top, drill new holes in the frame for the mounts and you should be done. You might have to trim the metal plate that wraps around the spare tire as well.
