Sorry for the slow stretch, I've been busy. Lol that kit took me 2 days, but only because I didnt have the hardware. Otherwise its cake to put together, it takes longer to remove the airbox. Haha

Alright, time for updates. Give me a minute to upload some pictures and type it all up, there'll be another post tonight with new pics.

Took apart the whole back half of the interior to try to clean under the flooring, looked like spilt soda under there.

Anyways, on to actual progress made. I finally caved and stopped sticking up for the bag console, and bought a high series console. Im too lazy to separate my captions, so basically, im planning on touching up the worn spots on the console shell, I painted the tray and bezel, eventually ill do the door handles and gauge surround, and I used a piece of an old seatcover to reupholster the console lid.

And then the last one is thanks to interscope:

the little factory sub has a surprising amount of punch, im gonna have to look up the links, but I used a metra adapter from sonicelectronics to go from rca to the sub plug to use the factory harness, and then I had a problem with amp pop, the headunit put out a 12volt remote power on signal, whereas the ford amp requires 5v, the sub would pop every time the headunit turned on or off. That cost me more than the metra adapter, but it was a regulator/capacitor assembly that would both regulate the signal to 5v, and eliminate oscillations in the signal. That went in today, and viola, no more amp pop.

Ill get those up here tonight probably, if not, tomorrow.

Woot I helped!
Thanks to you Im getting my SL/ TT soon-ish. Waiting to buy my ranchos and do it all at once :P

What is that console out of? I checked out another console guide thread here, which recommends early-mid '90s Explorers, but the pictures of consoles still seem pretty short. I like the style that you have, which covers the entire floor area between the driver and passenger.

The explorers had a high series console that can be modded to fit a sport trac, but the easy fi5 is from 2001-2005 tracs or 02-03 explorer sports. Mine is from an 02 sport. There's a great writeup on them over on mysporttrac.com under the how to's

old thread, I know, but hang on to that coin, it's a nice one and you probably won't be able to find another one =P

Not sure why I haven't seen this thread before. Nice writeup and everything. I'm starting to look at intakes and you did a couple mods that could definitely help me. Not to mention the guest appearance in one of the photos haha.

how does the CAI preform? I had one on my mustang, but took it off because it actually made the car run a little rough. the ripples in the intake tube were there for a reason and i notice the explorer has the same ripples.

runs fine, runs the same as it did with the stock tube. just sounds a little better. it even whistles a little when the rpms change as the trans shifts. haha
