My transmission will not shift into gear after it was rebuilt.

1993 ford ranger 4x4
I have a 93 ford ranger 4x4..i had the tranny done and when i got it back i put it in myself...made sure the trans.oil was filled properly...the tranny worked for a while...i parked it and the next morning my battery was dead and the tranny had no gears it was a auto . Trans. Any ideas whats wrong?
 






Modern transmissions use shift solenoids, which are electronic. Try putting a new or charged up battery in it before you panic. Also, the PCM requires a decent amount of voltage (maybe 10.5V+) to function. Below that, you might not get a clear thinking PCM, which controls the transmission.

Also check the fluid level, smell, and color and let us know what you see. Big problems generally show something. Black fluid might indicate clutch dust. Aluminum shavings indicate possible major failures. Bad smells indicate overheating/slipping.
