Well my one week old explorer is dead, I have lost reverse and I only have first gear. Its a 02 4.6L awd, any ideas before I take it to a shop? thanks
Nate
Generically, you could have a bad transmission range sensor (or in your case digital transmission range sensor)...
lack of reverse can present other issues. To help more, I'll need to know what trans we are talking about. (I should know, but it's been along day and I am sure someone can fill me in.)
If you end up needing to buy another tranny for your truck I have my 5R55W tranny out of my 2003 4.6 Explorer. Was in perfect condition with only 7,000 miles on it when pulled. Only reason I pulled it was to swap to a built 4R70W to handle the 700+lb/ft of torque I plan to throw at things. Just an option. The tranny shops will usually try to charge you an arm and a leg for even minor fixes. Let me know.
