I had some trouble with the quick disconnect hydraulic clutch slave line which is mounted on the manual transmission of my 94 X
It seems I was no the first to disconnect it and the first attempted was less that a sterling job. The plastic was a little mangled but I when ahead and with the special disconnect tool anyway.
What happened was the plastic did not slide in far enough to release the fitting. grrrrrrr
It was stuck and I couldn’t release the fitting. No plastic was showing.
Well everyone has their own fix but I used a 3 /4 brass compression ring (used for copper pipe). Cutting it to half its size. Then I cut a slit in and popped it over the male fitting. I used the special tool to push the plastic the rest of the way and release the fitting.
Worked for me …maybe it will be useful it you ever get stuck.
Then I was thinking:
I don’t do any off roading but:
I read that the slave gets screwed up when the guys go off roading: water and mud gets into the unit. Since that disconnect fitting does have a little slop in it. I thought it might be (a)one source of the problem.
I have some 1”in? electrical shrink tubing. Maybe shrink taping that brass fitting might help keep crud out. ????????
I will leave that thought to greater minds than mind on the subject.
