Background: Transmission was pulled and a TC was replaced, shift kit put in 1000 miles ago. Was back this week to have a new TC put in as the O/D off light went off and I got code P0471. Transmission shop thought the TC was bad and replaced it. Not getting the O/D light flash as of now.

But this noise you will hear in the video is coming from the front of the truck and seems to be louder under the car than standing in front of it with the hood open. It was there before and is still there. After the truck warms up if I let off the gas it will go away to the point the road noise drowns it out. As soon as I hit the gas again it begins again. As you can tell from the video the more I push the gas the louder it gets.

Now to the transmission, it is still flairing between gears seems like 2nd to 3rd and at the top end (maybe going into overdrive between 45-65 mph) and this noise gets very load and I get (in this order) noise stops, engine revs, switchs gears.

Anyone have this issue before?

I am sorry if this was mentioned and I missed it but is this noise being made while in gear or while in park and reving engine?

The Shop did properly fill your transmission back up with fluid correct?

Typically flares are caused by shift solenoids sticking inside the transmission.Unless the solinoids were replaced chances are this is probably the reason for all your issues due to the pressure not being high enough. there could be a valve internally that is not closing completly due to the solenoid, have you ever used this shop before? are they reputable?

in park...

never used the shop before but had a few people recommend them that had X trannys rebuilt there...

I took it back today and they told me it's not actually flairing...I took a ride with the owner and it shifts ok but it jumps a bit after it shifts...the noise gets louder just before it shifts then its like the car gets a shot of gas once it shifts into gear...which he says is different from a flare which is "the car trying to get into gear"

this just in...now the X sounds like something is grinding when it's trying to start...belt maybe? This is really beyond me and I don't know what to do next...I got a new belt and I'm going to try taking the old one off to see what it sounds like then put the new one on...throwing good money after bad now...:(

changed the serp belt, started better...still squeeling and shifting funny...gotta love it...

going to look for a newer X this weekend...I can't take anymore...

the grinding could come from the starter not being shimmed correctly. that would cause the starter gear to grind against the torque converter. it would also give you issues of hard starting

now I'll have to look at that tomorrow...after I put the new belt on it did seem to start easier...I'm going to check the tranny fluid level tomorrow then move to the power steering pump, then on to the dealership to try and find a replacement...I'll keep fighting until the end on this thing...

Well I'm going to reshim the starter today, should be fun...at least I have a lift...then I'm going after that damn squeel!

I will find it! Then to the rumbling rear...then to trade this mess for a newer one...

That growling/whining sound kinda sounds like a bad front tranny pump. May be the Power Steering also...... If its the front pump it could seem to indicate a bad T/C as many times the symptoms are the same and usually a bad front pump is follwed in short order by a bad T/C. The worst thing is if it's the front pump your new T/C is contaminated and will also need replaced again with the new front pump.
