Greetings

I found this part hanging down from the front of my truck. Before going to a shop i would like to know something about it so i don't get taken advantage of.

Can someone name this part for me. What is its function? Why is there no bolts to attach to part? Can i still drive the truck?

Thank You very much!

front sway bar. if it's just hanging there then the links are missing/broken. service grade end-links are around $20 at any auto parts store for 2. better ones are more money, but worth it. see RockAuto, Moog brand. They're easy to install, especially if your old ones are missing.

the purpose of the sway bar is to prevent your truck from leaning in corners.

Thank You very much for your quick reply Koda2000. Gave me a place to start. Badd

I just put Moog K700542 on mine about a month ago. Hardest part was removing the old ones, since I had to hacksaw through them. Installation was piece of cake.

Tip: When installing the new end-links, get both of them in place between the sway bar and lower control arm before attaching the nuts on the ends, otherwise you'll be fighting the sway bar.

Moog's new "barrel nut" design is what makes them so easy to install. Smart, yet simple engineering. Ford could learn from Moog.
