Well, not so much an update, but an observation. My car is in the shop for a few days while they fix some leaks(yay!) ,and I borrowed my parents Edge while they have it.
I immediately put mft into diagnostic mode to check satellite reception. In areas where I am lucky to see 4 or 5 satellites, sometimes as few as 1 or 2, the Edge held 8 satellites for 90% of the trip. The lowest it went was 6, and it was for a split second.
So, next thing to figure out is why my Explorer has such poor GPS reception.
Will be calling service manager in the morning to discuss.
