Hello can anyone suggest a mechanic in Grand Rapids ? I couldnt find a thread existing.

I have the 1995 XLT cam shaft position sensor squeak issue and do not have capabilities to fix it. From other posts on here it seems the dealerships dont do the job anymore because the part is no longer made by ford.

I have also developed a new noise recently that may or not be related where when starting up the engine has a rattle like it isnt being lubricated ? Perhaps lifter noise ( does that engine have lifters ?) I was curious if the two things are related because I read the position sensor is related to an oil pump....

So I would like to steer clear of dealerships if I can. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Your motor definitely has lifters. How long does it rattle for?

It rattles loudly for 10 seconds at start up then quiets down a bit. But this has only recently started to happen in the last few weeks. I just went over 200k while camping this past 4th of July weekend. Thanks for looking at my post.

Yeah, it drives the oil pump, but it is doubtful the original Ford one could break and cause that to fail. Motorcraft filter?
There is a guy in Chicago (fordtechmakuloco)/BSG automotive. He has 100s of YT vids, probably the best ford tech on the planet. Maybe contact him and see what he has to say. He has a shop where he fixes only Ford.

^^what he said

Thanks Ill look it.

I don't know if you still need a mechanic here in GR, but I'd suggest Creekside Auto Repair in Hudsonville. 616-669-1530. I've found them (well, him, the owner) to be very straightforward, practical and reliable. I like that he has no patience for bullshit.
