Shifter is very loose, auto on column, 03 2wd sport trac, Pulled off dash knee plate, found screw loose that I had read about, then a little flat bar fell out. Am not sure how or where this fits. # 9 from parts diagram. looking for pic or dia. of assembly.
Thanks for any help, Woodswize

Did I do something wrong to have not gotten any replies, Just asking for a little help to fix wife's truck.
Thanks

All I can tell you is it's called a - Ford OEM Steering Column-Selector Lever.

I have no ideal of where it goes, or what it does. I wonder if it has something to do with the detentes you feel when you move the shift lever around... ? The diagram doesn't tell you anything.

Thank you for your reply at least there is one reason to be in this forum,
But I must say if this is the participation that's to be expected from this site it leaves a lot to be desired and worth no membership even for $.50 cents!

I'm sorry you feel that way, I've belonged to this forum for 9 years and have found it to be very helpful. In the 9 years of my reading many threads, I've never seen anything about the part you're asking about. It's probably just something none of the current members have run into. As far as whether the membership is worth 50 cents... well, you didn't pay anything to ask your question, Sorry I can't be of more help.

You might try posting your question to the regular Explorer Forum (rather than the Sport Trac sub forum). Many more people read the regular Gen II Explorer Forum and perhaps someone there has experienced your issue. I'm sure the shifter parts are the same between the Sport Tracs, Sports and 4-door Explorers/Mountaineers. To be honest, I find the Sport Trac sub forum can be pretty dead.

BTW - As of today (AM 3/24/19) 136 people have reviewed your posting. I would think if anyone knew what that part did someone would have offered help.

I've got a 2005 Ford explorer sport trac XLT . Why is the shifter column different from the one O'reillys gave me ? What does the bar on the side connect to?
