Any help guy/gals would be appreciated.

All I have was my stock ant-theft on my 2002 explorer. Well some POS broke into it today and stole anything they can out of my truck. They even stole my daughter's clothing and her emergency "anaphylactic shock" signs that I had made up. They even stole my parking ticket. All of this happened right in front of my apartment. We didn't hear anything.

Anyways.
What alarm system could I used in conjunction with my stock key less entry?
Something compatible would be ideal for ease of use and not having to carry 2 sets of remotes.

Thanks in advance.

If my landlords camera catches them *******s I am gonna break there hands with a baseball bat. Seems from what I hear them thiefs:mad: been breaking lots of windows in my area. I guess my truck manual will be for sale on ebay soon.

Sorry to hear about that... how cold. From my experience, once you have a quality aftermarket alarm installed, the stock alarm can be deactivated but not removed. I had a Viper transplant from an earlier Ex of mine put in to my 03. Long story short, most alarms have keyless entry... you won't need two remotes(edit). And should the factory alarm go off (you never know) the key will silence it.

There are tons of alarms, I only know Viper - my only complaint is that it's hooked up to a siren and not the horn (I'd like to change that). What's your budget for the alarm?

It may be for sale soon- some moron stole a brand new bow out of my truck a few years ago, and it showed up on eBay 2 days later... Morons! :D

Helps to have a buddy that works for the Michigan State Police...

He listed it...

We sent tons of pics like this and info with the serial number...

eBay sent his user info to the MSP...

and a week later, I get my bow back. Since we paid a downpayment of $800 for it via PayPal, and then have him ship it through the USPS (he said no pickups even thought I was listed as 18 miles away...) and it was valued with the case and arrows at $1,220- can anyone list the charges he may have faced? :D

Wouldn't that be a trip? A thief breaks into your vehicle, they open the door and an arrow through the neck :) That's an alarm system!

You know I would accept them taking my glasses and things of value, but a foot air pump, my daughters emergency medical signs... That burns me up. It was a weird situation. The kid upstairs from me with his illegal unregistered car with a giant Tach on the dash, huge speakers and tinted windows had no issue last night. Instead they targeted a truck with a big child safety seat in the back. Anyways enough venting....lol

I guess at this point with the loss, maybe $200 with $300 being the most.

That is ridiculous. Thieves sometimes make no sense. They might have figured that since your car looked more "sophisticated" that you may have more valuable things in there. Unfortunately, they had to take what they could get, but jeez- it's such a feel of violation.

maybe I need to put on my hunting gear and hide out in a tree stand across the street. Maybe I can take them with a quartering shot if they come back for seconds

They definitely could see my center gauges on the console for oil pressure, temp and voltage. I never leave my Scanguage in the truck though. I just leave the cable wrapped around the steering wheel. But they left that. I take my gps upstairs and put the mount in the center console.

Well this is a lesson then. People will steal anything and everything..... Funny thing is they used my Stop & Shop recycling grocery bags to carry whatever I had. I had like 10 bags that we use for shopping.... Them MFking *******s..

any good alarm system will have keyless entry(which a previous post stated). anything made by D.E.I.(viper, clifford, python, etc.) is going to be a good product. however, you are going to pay top dollar for one. another option is an audiovox alarm(prestige, code alarm, etc.) they are quite a bit cheaper, and in my opinion are just as good if not better. i have had viper and audiovox prestige alarms and my audiovox has been the top dog. it works from much further away and it has not malfunctioned once. no matter what brand you go with, i would definitely go with a two-way system(one that will page you if something goes on with your car).

(I'm still trying to figure out what kinda heartless crook would target that specific vehicle. Some people...)

DMac, how can the Viper alarm be changed from the siren sounding out, to the horn honking instead? Can I change that myself? Thanks!

some alarms you can just hook up the positive siren wire that is coming from the brain straight to the positive horn wire. some you may need to wire up a relay to change the polarity or you may need to wire some resistors to change voltage. if you have a digital multimeter, you would be able to do a little testing and figure it out yourself. also a polarity test light(like this one http://www.waekon.com/PS/catalog/ct07.html) helps even more than a DMM.

Alright, sounds good... I'll try the horn(s) Could I remove the siren and just add a third horn in the same spot? Thanks!

i have never tried it, but i would assume it would work. it wouldnt be any different than tapping into the factory horn.

I'll try it tomoro...

"Booby Trapping" should be made legal AND be encouraged:D!!

Great Thanks Guys for pointing me in the right direction. I think a pager type alarm would be worth the extra money.

Everyday I discover more stuff they stole. Had family in truck and went to go look at my daughter while we were driving, guess what no child rear view mirror.

Until I get my alarm I have a day/night camera pointed at my rig at night set to motion record.

checking out ebay now.
found this CLICK

found these guys too

the prestige aps-997 is a great unit. and $140 for it is a good price. i would go for it!

Thanks DMac!! I put a 12v 107 decibel back up signal (the kind on trucks) on the Viper and pulled the siren. The sound is sooo ear piercing I had to turn it off :D It's a constant eeeeeeeeeeeeeeech!:thumbsup:
