Hi,

I installed a gps tracker in the interior light unit in the front. Works fine, but now I receive low battery warnings from this device. My guess is that my Explorer is trying to outsmart me by switching of the interior lights automatically after a couple of hours.

1. Is there a way to switch this usualy handy feature off?
2. Is there another +12v wire somewhere in this area I should use?

Thanks,

Ronald.

You can run a new wire to the battery with a fuse to your gps by going through the hole that the throttle cable uses behind the brake pedal.

Also,
If you have a cigarette lighter, it is a constant 12 v source, you can splice into it.

The spikes to the system can be nasty though and pop smaller device electronics if you are unlucky.

I had my XM radio short. Popped the fuse in the lighter plug too at the same time.
