I have a 93 sport and my passenger front axle keeps popping out of the hub.

in that thread i see a diagram of the auto-lock set up, my truck has the warn conversion for the manual locks, is there anything behind the spindle that broke that can cause this? like a sealed cartridge press fit baring of some sort?

i know with the auto locks theres a snap ring at the end of the axle, is this what holds the axle in? because i dont see how that would, because with the warn kit its just the 2 big rings with the lock ring in the center and no snap rings on the axle or anything, i need help

Next, remove the "aw-****" clip (a c-clip that is called that because when you try to remove it, the next words out of your mouth are generally...). Use two same-sized screwdrivers to do that - one on each leg, then give them a pop -- gently -- so that the clip moves far enough to grab with a pliers and be removed. Remove the splined washer behind it.........................2nd paragraph on post 8 at http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173181&highlight=warn+manual+hub+conversion .....did you reinstall this??

The left side of the stub axle shaft (pictured at the bottom) passes through the steering knuckle and you can see the splines showing in the top picture.. There is NO way for the axle shaft to come out unless it has been completely sheared in half. As you can see the ears of the stub axle where the U-joint is cannot possible fit through the 1.5" spindle opening..

Are you saying the axle splines in the top picture are pulling out? The ABS sensor protector is held in place by 2 bolts not one.. Check out Spindle removal for lost of good info and pics.

Just to clarify: With Manual hubs you will have a large axle nut with a pin, followed by the washer with holes in it, followed by the large axle nut without the pin.

Now for both auto and manual hubs the splined washer fits over the axle followed by the "C" clip.
