I have a 2002 Ford Explorer XLS and it is my daily driver/ love it to death. However lately I replaced the battery and the wiring in the car hasn't been the same. My guess is that the wire(s) are corroded because my turn signals will not work, the alarm randomly goes off and the dash says doors are open when really the doors are all closed. Also my doors are not auto-locking, what could be the problem? As I said I think it is the wires but I have never replaced them, help please! Thanks

Possibly broken/damaged wires in the boot between the driver's door and the body.

I had a bunch of electrical issues including the door ajar light & chime coming on randomly. I repaired a broken wire in the boot and all is well!

Here is a great thread for removing the door panel and replacing the door ajar switch, thanks to borland for the awesome write-up: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=249253

Here is a great thread for checking for broken/damaged wires, thanks to synyster for this awesome write-up: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=270081

Here is the procedure for enabling / disabling the autolock feature:

1. Turn the ignition key to ON
2. Press the UNLOCK button 3 times
3. Turn the ignition key to OFF
4. Press the UNLOCK button 3 times
5. Turn the ignition key to ON, within 5 seconds press the LOCK button 1 time
Pressing the UNLOCK/LOCK button again will toggle the Autolock/Relock states.
6. Turn the ignition key to OFF to exit programming

Hope this helps out!
