Greetings to all....first post from a novice with a big problem..any help much appeciated.
'95 Explorer, 4.0L..162K miles...was driving home at 55mph, explorer died with no warning...no sputtering, etc...plenty of gas...altho the miles are high, I've never experienced any breakdown, much less one like this.
After pulling off the road, I tried to crank the engine. Check Engine light did come on (first time that I've ever even seen it on). Had plenty of juice...lights, etc...
Anyway, got a ride home...next day went out, no juice...replaced battery...good juice again, but still won't crank.
I've been told by a friend it's the MAF contaminated with dirt. My first thought was fuel pump. Any thoughts?
I'll start with the least expensive and quickest methods as I'm not keeping it much longer...but still need it in the meantime.
Many thanks.
