I have the hood up, radiator cap off, and the drain plug twisted all the way back tot he point of almost coming off.

three drips. thats all i got. it might be dripping out there more now, i have thew truck on a *very* slight incline where the back is higher than the front.

but anyways i expected it to start pouring out.

the truck was running for about 10 seconds about 5 minutes before i started, cuz i had to back her into the driveway. she hasn't run since early yesterday b4 that.

all your help is appreciated.

ok....i just added 2 liters of water and the radiator took it all. with the plug still open only a couple of drips came out.

WHAT GIVES?!?!?!?

EDIT: i noticed the drops that did come out is pretty much black. doesn't have an oily feel to it, but if thats the coolant i'm quite concerned as to why its pretty much black.

its been 20 minutes guys and nothing else has dripped out from that water being in there.

i guess all the grease monkeys must be still in bed.

thanks man, you mean one of the metal hoses?

and what do you mean by back flush, my garden hose is froze solid right now cuz of the temps here.

its freezing rain out now. :(

On mine there rubber. And sorry didn't realise the temp out there so your stuck. Perhaps when it warms up. To back flush:
1. Take off both the top and bottom hose from the radiator.
2. Put your hose in the bottom of the rad and turn on the water to a high flow.
3. Water and rubish should exit via the top hose point. Which is the opposite way to normal flow.

You can do the same with the engine block but have to remove the thermostat and this time in at the top out the bottom.
Hope this helps.

PS The hoses are about 2" dia and held with what we call jubilee clips.

all done. thanks for your help Howard.

As soon as my gf saw what it was like out, she called and offered her garage. :)

boy did i ever get doused in coolant :)

I used the Prestone Super flush and followed the directions, everything is good. :)

Thnx again for your help.

Another case solved by ExplroerForum !!!!!!!!!!

I'd also like to add that my engine temps are NIGHT AND DAY different now that I've done this.

Highly recommended in my books. :)

Glad to have been of some help. Hope all is now well. Just a thought if you go for the full engine flush and remove the thermostat you may as well put in a new one (I understand that they fail fairly regularly). All the best.
