ok so i've been having an issue with my gas pedal vibrating on accleration over bumps and a weird noise.

now its been very cold here lately so i haven't really poked around much underneath or under the hood.

I've been thinking maybe a bad motor mount or something along that line.

what i did find was that a bracket on the driver's side of the engine is very close to the firewall and appears to rub now and then.

I think this might be part of the problem, what would cause this bracket to get so close to the firewall and make contact?

could you give me an idea on what clearance should be inbetween it and the firewall?

is a black steel bracket attached to the engine by the exhaust manifold, it has a large hole in the end, actually it kinda looks like the end of a hockey-stick in away.

thanks for your help guys

A lift bracket, perhaps? I haven't had the original manifolds on the truck since it had about 200 miles on it back in 1998. It could well be close from the factory, these engines are little on the tight side as far as fit is concerned.

do you think it would be a big deal if i were to take my die grinder and cut part of it off?
