As the topic says...I want to replace the factory sub in my 2002 Explorer, but not sure how to get to it. It seems like the plastic cover might pop off, but I dont want to break it...any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tim

Well, if its like the previous type from 1995-2000 or something, you just take some screws out of the bottom of the right hand side trim panel, pull out the little trim clips with a flathead screw driver, take off the seatbelt with a torx bit, and lift the panel out. Then a few screws and you have the sub out. I think that is all there is to it, or at least thats how it worked with my friends 97, my 95 didn't have a sub, but that is how I got the panel off to bypass the amp back there....

Good luck.

Thanks, for the info!!...can anyone confirm this? It seems like the plastic grill should pop off, but I dont want to break anything...

If its like my speaker grilles that i took off, there is melted vinyl over some holes around the grille. Just cut those clumps off and it should come off its little things. Good luck. Just use common sense, the guy that designed the thing probably thinks the same way you do :)
