I just bought all new Focal 6.5 components, and a sub, but I dont have any money left to buy a new headunit. The guy at the local Audio store said that i could run all my speakers from the factory headunit (Being controled by factory unit). The factory unit doesnt have pre-amp outputs does it? And what kind of wires am i going to need to do this right? 4 focal polyglass 6.5, 1 JL 12w3v2, and two amps. The guy also went on to say that the factory headunit is almost as good as many aftermarket units. He told me not to waste my money on anything but a topend Pioneer Premier, or an Eclipse headunit. Is he right? Is the factory unit pretty good?

Any HU over about $150 will be better than your factory HU... I wouldn't believe that guy... I personally have a higer end Alpine and like it better than all of the Pioneers that I've had... Pioneer dose make some good stuff for the price too though... I'd also reccomend Clarion stuff too... I've never had an eclipse, lots of people swear by them though...

Stock HU do not even compare to aftermarket. I just changed out one in my fiance's car and was gonna do the speakers too, but, after i put in the new HU, the speakers sounded plenty clear/loud. There is a HUGE difference.

If you have amps to hook up you have to have an aftermarket hu because factory does not have preamp outputs. you can use things to wire the amp through your rear door speakers but thats gonna sound like crap.

HAHAHAHA I needed a good laugh... I disagree with that.... and if yer willing to spend the money on good speaker such as focal, do yourself a favor and get a new head unit, as you can pick up a decent one for 250 or a real nice one for around 500 bucks

you can however if you want just to have the focals in, wire em to the factory wiring... not hard, wont sound that great, although should be better than stock.... and save up for a new Head unit, and maybe a nice external amp for those nice speakers....

That guy is either a charlatan, or just plain dumb.

An Eclipse HU would be GREAT. In fact, that's what I got. But any deck from Pioneer (even Blaupunkt, maybe)will be better than the Ford factory unit. Heck, go on eBay and get one for $50.
Nice purchase on the speakers. Will wire right in, once you build plates for them.

Why would using line converters sound like crap? I bet it would sound better than the factory amp. The guy who told you that you stock HU was as good as most aftermarket is crazy.
