Ok, i got my XLT over Christmas break. It had no radio as the guy before me had installed one and took it out when he sold the truck. All he did was cut all the wires and left them. I have no clue how to wire up a radio (the speakers i think i can get).

I traded the short plug wires off of my nova for long plug wires off of a Chevy truck and the radio (so im not sure the radio even works).

Any help pointing me in the right direction as to what wire goes where it would be greatly appreciated. Long drive if i have to drive home without a radio Friday.
Its a pioneer if that helps any.

Also, how good would a 1000 watt 5 channel amp work with 4 speakers and a sub?

I know it's allot but I don't know what the original radio system was in your Explorer so I just posted every diagram.

I hope this helps you out.

Ok, so i got it all wired up, only to find that my radio was blown. it also seems that i have the wiring for the 6 disk cd changer, but there isnt one in the console.

I dont have the premo system so i dont have a sub, but my question is that if i get a sub box from a premo with an 8 inch sub would i be able to put that in place of that little cubby hole that i have?

Yup, what color is your interior? the cover is what I found dificult to find in the right color, my interior is the light gray, the only one I found was the dark gray...
do a search here, some people have put a 10 in sub in there

Its a tan. My Eddie has one but its a 6.5 and its blown, hence getting the 8 inch (i thought it was an 8).

The stock one on some models is 8in, but some people have modified it to fit a 10", there are also some aftermarket ones that come with a 10" sub

ill have to look into those

any ideas how a 1000 watt 5 channel amp will work with wiring up the 4 speakers and sub?

From the HU you have 4 or 6 channels, (you most likely will only need 4 in a 5 ch amp), you hook the RCA's to those, run them over to the amp, you use each channel for your speakers, and the sub out to your sub(s) a 5 ch amp will work good for a modest system, I have a 4ch amp and I'm very happy with the sound I get, I only wanted to go 1 step higher than stock but I think I went several steps up:thumbsup:

Im not really looking for something too big, which is why i have 4 speakers rated at 400 watts per pair with a 300 watt 8 inch sub.

Then the 5 ch amp should be enough, check the RMS rating of both your speakers and sub, as well as the ohm load, and get the amp that will match more closely to that setup, post pics when you're done hehe
