I Purchased A 94 Explorer 2wd With A Bad Tranny..the Motor Would Run But The Check Engine Light Comes On And The Truck Would Blow Out Black Smoke..well I Replace The Tranny With A Rebuilt One And So I Test Drove It And The Tranny Is Good To Go..but My Issue Is With My Check Engine Light..the Truck Runs Kind Of Rough When It Is Cold And Runs Better As It Warms Up..when I Drive The Truck Before It Warms Up It Acts Like It Wants To Upshift From O/d To Drive..but When The Truck Finally Warms Up It Seems To Be Fine..the Check Engine Light Goes On And Off While I Am Driving..Can Anyone Give Me Any Advice..

Thanks For The Quick Reply..i Have Not Been By A Repair Shop To Have A Computer Hooked To It But If I Have To I Will..so It Might Be Something As Simple As A Sensor? Thanks For Welcoming Me To The Forum And For The Advice..

94 Exploder - Thanks for the tips already read!

I'm off to look/replace the blower motor resistor. I'm already planning on replacing the rusted out sections by the back doors with weld on parts talked about here!

Our ploder was parked in a garage for two or three years - book store delivery unit during bad weather. Interior is fine - look forward to quite a few years.

Anyone have thoughts about a nice detail with a "steam clean" for the engine? 131,000 miles - I'm a little concerned - stuff about letting a sleeping dog lie!

Thanks

welcome

I Am Going To Go To An Autocenter On Wednesday And Have Them To Do A Diagnostic..once I Find Out What I Need Will I Be Able Get The Sensor From The Dealer Or Part Store?..

you should be able to get the parts from either a dealer or an auto parts store i would check with a napa or car quest first they are usually a little bit better than checker or autozone...the dealer will most likely have the part but it wont be cheap from the dealer

Go to Autozone to have the code read. The shop does exactly the same thing, but they will most likely charge you for it and possibly try to sell you parts you may or may not need. Post the code here when you get it read. The people on this forum are very helpful and can point you in the right direction.

If you can't find a parts store to read the code for you, you can read the codes on a '94 with nothing more than a paper clip. See the stickies in the Under the Hood forum, and in the EEc-IV sub-forum.

I Stopped By Autozone And The Tested My Explorer And It Turned Outh That My Maf Sensor Needed To Be Replaced.I Changed It This Morning And It Fixed The Problem..I Really Appreciate The Advice From Everyone..Thanks Again
