Need HELP with codes

I have 2 codes p0401 p0402 both point to the egr valve but are conflicting. I have a 04 ford explorer limited v8 all wheel drive. I also have a check fuel cap on my on board computer on the dashboard. I changed the gas cap. the code is still there as well. I have been searching for dpfe for this car but I dont think there is one in it. What should I do. Ford wants to start replacing sensors and doing diagnostics which will cost alot of money. WHat are my options?

This worked for my 94, haven't had codes (yet) on the 2004. Now that I've completely jinxed myself...

Take it to AutoZone, have them read the codes. They will enter them into the computer, and will print out a full diagnostic list for you to check, which will include voltages to check on specific-colored wires, etc. I once used this to find a broken connector on my MAF sensor on my 94. THIS IS ALL FREE!!!
