need help with my 02

I recently purchased a used 02 explorer. It didn't come with the owners manual. Now my service engine soon light is on and I'm not sure what to check first. Additionally, about every 3rd time I start the vehicle the 4x4 high light is on and I have to push the automatic button to get it back into 2x4 auto. Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm a little lost on this.

Go to autozone and have the codes read (for the check engine light) and do a search on here when you get back for that code. DO NOT buy into the advice of the person at autozone - they're generally not correct in prescribing what needs fixing. Do a search for "owners manuals" and you'll find a post by me with a link to Ford where you can download a (free) owners manual.

Well, the guy at autozone will tell you the code(s) - Write it (them) down - come back to the start page and click here

Enter your code in the search bar and it'll bring up threads from the past. Look into those and if you can't find a possible fix, post back in your original thread what you found and we'll try to help from there.
