Hi I recently purchased a 95 explorer xlt. It has a bw4405 transfer case. The 4wd isnt working on it. Tried tapping on the shift motor and got it to turn. Today when i was working on it I noticed when i took the motor off the shaft on the case was pointing to hi. The selector switch is set to 2wd. On the t case where the selector shaft is there is high , neutral, and low. Should the case be at the neutral setting when the selector is turned to 2wd? Also the shift motor only rotates when I switch it to 4L and back. I checked and the shift motor does shift the transfer case into 4L. I did the shift then shut the ignition off and took the motor off to check the position of the shaft. It was pointed to L. Did a check on the ice and still have no power to the front wheels. Back ones spin and the front wheels are not turning. Nothing happens when switching from 2H to 4H with the shift motor. Same thing happens on the ice when in 4H. Next thing is what to do to correct the problem. The other question i have is on the auto hubs. Out of curiousity i jacked up the front wheels one at a time and turned the tires. When I turned them the front shafts coming out of the hubs were turning as well. Is this normal?
