have a 2002 explorer and both the rear windows stopped going up and down.. i took the door panels off and the metal cables were all kinked around the motors reel. Can i just buy new cables and wrap them around the reel myself or do i have to get the whole motor for it to come with the cables already wrapped. And if i can wrap them myself than if someone has pictures or a description for how they get wrapped around the reel and where the cables hook on inside the door that would help alot. Thank so much

If they came undone once, they may come undone again. If you can afford to replace with a new window regulator, you should. I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but that's my opinion.

so in order to get the new cables and everything i have to buy a whole new regulator? and that comes with the cable wrapped around the reel of the motor already? cuz thats my big pain feels like

Yes you have to order the entire regulator. Mine broke over the winter and I replaced it. It was very easy to do. If you get one and need help, let me know and I will try to guide you through.

Easier to do than I thought / Front left

Order the regulator with motor. My front left went auto down, and busted up also. It was 2 below so I guess I shouldn't have tried to use??? I wouldn't have known how to put together old motor to new regulator anyway. Mine had the cables all kinked up also so I thought any chance of making job easier was a plus. I bought mine at Rockauto, about $80. Job was easier than I expected it to be. I'd go all new for sure, doesn't cost too much more but maks half the work at least.

Problem Windows

Is this a running problem. I have lost 3 windows so far to this. I paid to have the drivers side window regulator replaced at a Ford Dealership. It was $248 and the broke a on the plastic that holds the buttons so it doesn't stay down now. I guess I should do the rest myself. It will be cheaper and I can take door panels off with out breaking things.
