got code P0141 (02 bank 1 sensor 2)

Need to find out which one it is, is it the the one behind the cat or in front of it looks like there are only 3. OHV only has 6 into 2 into 1 exhaust that goes into a single CAT. hope some can help.

Your OHV has only three O2 sensors - two pre cat (adjust the fuel ratio on banks) and one post cats (monitors the cats):

Thanks for the diagram Sonic, but I still need to know which one is sensor 2 as indicated by my CEL code (bank 1 sensor 2)

#12 in the diagram. P0141 - Heater is not functioning. It might be from inside sensor, contacts in the connector, wire itself...

Merry Christmas fellow posters. I have this same issue on my 96 V6, I accidentally replaced Bank 2, Sensor One last week so I have to replace B1, S2 to hopefully clear my check engine light and the emission test.

A couple of questions.

Is it tough to get to to this o2 sensor?
Do I need to purchase a different type of sensor compared to the the front one?

Thanks!

Did you check the codes? It is very seldom to have the downstream sensor defective...

O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 2).

That can be also from a damaged wiring to the sensor heater, bad connection (clean the connector).

I said I would fix it, not knowing exactly what I would be doing. lol

Would I need to remove the tire to access the sensor?

How do I clean the connector and/or fix damaged wiring?

On the six cyl, I saw around here pics with access from the passenger side wheel. I have a V8 and the only decent access is by removing the center console and the access panel that is under the carpet.
To clean the connector there are electronic contact cleaners.

Alright, that'll be my project in the morning.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Where can I get a diagram like that for my 97 Explorer 5.0? Also looking for an o2 censor

See below. HEGO monitors the fuel-oxigen ratio and CTM monitors the catalytic convertors efficiency:

So, a check engine light coming on from censor 2 bank 1 could be a problem with the CATor something else and not the o2?

No, a cat problem will be shown as a different code. Are you sure that is "sensor 1, bank 2"? See the notations above.

No, they are OK. I said just to double check the real number (P0xx).
