Need new front brakes

cheesy..when you say turn the rotors, do you mean cut them? I've heard it called cutting the rotors, when they resurface them, and yeah its about 20 bucks. I need to become friends with a mechanic!

yea thats what i mean lol mabe its a southern term :D lol

I went with the Autozone Carbon Friction Metallics and like them alot! Replaced the rotors too.
I had the Duralast Gold's on my Subaru Forester and didn't care for them. Just my opinion.
Pulling my race car feels much better with the pads and rotors done on front. Backs are OEM from my Ford dealer.

haha, i can't believe you guys have never heard anybody refer to it as "getting your rotors turned!"

I've lived in maryland and new jersey, all the mechanics use that term over here all the time. haha

----

But dude, if you JUST got new pads installed by the dealer, and they squeek....the problem isnt the pads, it's incorrect installation, or somebody didnt re-turn the rotors before mating them with new brake pads!

It should only cost you around $20 for 1 or 2 rotors to get turned.
Then slap on new brake pads.

----

I dont know about cheap pads to be honest.....i spent like $150 on Hawk Street pads for my truck......it took about 1000 miles for them to really break in, after that, they stop HARD......well worth the money.

I don't like to cheap out on something like brakes, something important like that is worth spending more money on, JUST incase.......since it's an SUV, and already has a higher center of gravity.

brakes still squeak.. replaced front ones in december with auto extra axcd833 ceramic..didnt replace rotors cuz mechanic said they were fine. still made noise and the guy said its my rear brakes that are making the noise..i waited til today to do the rear ones with wagner semi metallic mx881 today cuz i was hearing noise when not even braking and assumed its the rear... used a diff guy this time and he thought the front and rear rotors were in good shape. both mechanics said my rotors are fine and no need to get new ones..take it for a road test and the brakes are still screaming! new mechanic says its the front brakes that probably weren't ceramic cuz of all the brake dust on the rims. im about to lose my mind from the awful noises i hear.

i don't know what to do..everytime i do something i'm paying for labor...and now i have to restart on the front brakes to find out if its crappy pads or the rotors.

should i just replace the rotors and get new brakes on the front and see if that works? I'm running out of money and losing my mind from the sounds the brakes make when i stop. its so embarrasing.

Motorcraft from the dealership is all I will ever buy. I have tried ones from the autoparts stores and the dusting that occurrs drives me crazy and has led me back to the Motorcraft pads. THe money I saved cost me more in replacing back to Motorcraft. No squeeking and a heck of lot less dusting.

If I had brakes that made noise I'd have the rotors touched up (turned).

I run OEM Motorcraft on the back and Autozone Performance Friction Metallics ($80) on the front. No noise or dust and it stops on its nose. I needed the extra brake grab when I started pulling my race car to the track.
