Need Opinions - 97 Eddie Bauer

I'm considering purchasing a 97 Eddie Bauer, 5.0, AT, AWD. I'd appreciate any thoughts on what I should look out for on this year/set up. I'm aware of the blend door issue but I suspect there are other 'gotchas' for this model. One specifice question I have.... how can I make sure the AWD is working properly during a test drive? Any and all comments are appreciated.

well, i dont know them all by any means and feel free to correct me if im wrong, but heres a few things
-after spring 97 manfacturing date (pop the hood to make sure the egr valve is on the pass side)
-check for rear end sag
-check third break light (unless you dont mind it being out)
-depending on the color, look for checks and oxidation
-start it up, and check for exhaust leaks from the manifolds
-ask about the tranny and see how it shifts

easiest way to test the awd is to get one side on some gravel or sand and keep the other side on solid ground. if only the back breaks loose then, well, no awd. most other way include jacking it up.
