I just got a '96 XLT and took care of the major mechanical problems. Now I am thinking about possible taking care of a the drivers' side front and rear doors. As you can see it looks like the previous owner smacked something and then tried to pull it out (with limited success). I was looking through the how-to's but didn't see one for replacing the doors. (Please link me to it if there is one.)

This is assuming that I can't just take off the skin and must replace the whole thing.

So the question is: How much of a PITA is it gonna be and also, can anyone tell me the "technical" color of the Ex? Thanks in advance...This has been a really helpful board for me in learning what I can do to my new truck :)

well unless you already have the new door i would get that fixed at a body shop, and your exterior trim code is in the door jam sticker.....

I was thinking about the body shop, but those panels feel like they have braille writing all over the damaged section. It almost feels like they tried to bang it back out from the inside....hmmm...

"standard body work"... bang with appropriate hammer and anvil heads for "flattening" / "straightening".... bondo leveling, sand smooth, paint.... its done. Whether it will be cheaper than a door replacement, probably not but that depends on the used part availability and who doing the work.
