Hi everyone, Today on the drive home from skiing with my friends, a somewhat loud popping/clunking noise came from the front drivers side suspension area and could be felt in the floorboards when hitting bumps (especially on the drivers side), or when turning into a inclined driveway. I had been in 4wd and was on a dirt road with about 6'' of snow when the noises started happening, but wasnt doing anything crazy, and was surprised it happened.

So I just got home and took a flashlight under the car, and saw that the front sway bar bolt on the drivers side is broken.

My question is, though, I'm guessing since this bolt probably sheared off I'll need to buy that long black piece connected to the lower control arm? as well as the sway bar bolt. What is the name of this part, and/or the part #? Also, what is the part # for the sway bar bolt? Is there a place you recommend going to get these, and how much should I expect to pay? Should I use locktite when putting in the new parts?

Lastly, is there any chance I messed up anything else up driving it like this for about 150 miles? Everything else looked ok, but im no mechanic..

Thanks a ton for you help, and hopefully I can get this fixed tomorrow!

Thats a sway bar end link and bolt.. You may be able to find a suitable replacement at a parts store. If not the dealership or Fast Parts Network would be the best solution.

that is the swaybar endlink when i used to work at a ford dealer i'd see that all the time on expeditions all the time its normal ware as for the locktite you shouldn't have to because the nut that goes on top should be one of those nylon locking nuts. As far as the bolt from what i can remember i think the endlink comes with the bolt not sure, but if you call a dealer or auto parts store they should tell you for sure.

thanks a ton for the quick replies. I plan on going to autozone tomorrow and will hopefully be able to get it all fixed soon. thanks again.

I replaced my sway bar end links with a set from Napa. The Napa ones have a metal outer sleeve instead of the plastic original ones. The set includes the bolts and new bushings. I don't remember the exact price but think it was less than $30.

Do yourself a favor and replace both of them at the same time, the other one probably won't be long lived.

Good luck, and happy New Year!

thanks for all the help. i just replaced the broken one with a 17 dollar part from advance auto parts, and it seems like its probably a better quality part. I think ill go ahead and change out the second one as well in the near future because I am somewhat rough on my car and I could def see it breaking.
