Hey guys, I've searched and searched on here, tire rack, internet, etc. but I still haven't found exactly the information I'm looking for.

This past summer I bought a 99 mountaineer 5.0 AWD. So far I've done a cold air intake and flowmaster exhaust system. I also added rear airbags to level out the sagging rear.

So, on to my question. I currently have 235/75/15 michelin ltx at tires on the truck. I really want to get a set of 31's to replace them. I've looked at a lot of tires and found a few that I like, but I'm not sure they're good for the driving style. The truck is driven on road mostly. I live near Detroit, so snow is something I have to deal with in the winter. I do go offroad for hunting, camping etc. I wouldn't mind trying the sand dunes either after reading about it. However, the truck will spend most of its time on roads and freeways. I don't think I want an all season highway tire, since I do plan to go offroad sometimes, and I don't want to get stuck.

So, what AT tire would work good for mostly on road driving? I know the REVO's would probably be best, but they are so expensive. I really like the general grabber at2, but think it might not be so good for mostly on road driving.

And also, if I go to 31's do I need to get a 31" spare?

I've got bridgestone dueler a/t's on my truck now and love them,
I've driven a truck with the revos and have to say I like the regular duler a/t's more.
I've put about 15,000 miles on them since they were new and the still look brand new.
I drive mostly on road awell, with some offroad, and they preform wellin both situations.
As for finding a full size spare, check your local craigslist or parts yard,
I paid $30 for my space and it has more than half tread.

Good luck.

bfg all terrains are great tires. look mean as 31s too. if you have a discount tire near you, pathfinder ats are what i ran. quiet as a church mouse on the road, yet gripped on the snow like you wouldnt believe.

A good name brand AT should serve you well and yes, you really should have a full size spare.

Does anyone have any experience with the new kumho AT's? They are pretty well priced.

How are the BFG ATKO's on the freeway? I liked the grabber at2 because it is similar to the BFG but less money.

Pirelli ATR's look good too. I guess I would like to hear from people with some of these tires to see how well they work on road. I'm sure almost any AT will be fine for my offroad needs. As long as it works good on the highway and in the snow I'd be pretty happy. The michilen ltx at have been fine so far.

Any more suggestions?
