Okay guys I need your help, I am getting suspension work done on my '03 XLT. I am getting the upper and lower ball joints replaced. But I am also getting new shocks and 4 new tires while I am at it. Also I want to get tranny fluid/filter checked. So....

What tires can you recommend that are quiet and have a good ride and handle well, I like to do a little nascar somtimes lol. Also I live in FL so snow is not an issue.

What kind of shocks can you recommend that provide excellent handling and smooth ride.

Also I have 115,000 miles so what should I do with the tranny, should I get fluid changed, filter and etc.

I got the car 6 months ago and dont know the maintence history and have had it tuned up etc but not sure about the tranny.

Please help me out here guys if you could send me a couple links of the tires and shocks as well as maybe somthing with the tranny I would really appreciate it.

Sorry for the long read thanks again!

Jake

thanks man i will def. look into them

Can anyone else help me with tires shocks and tranny!! thanks

Shocks I would recommend Rancho RSX, they are the best of both worlds, for on and off road.

I have not done any shock replacements (yet).

I replaced my tires last February with Yokohama Geolander HT(?) from Discount Tire. They are okay. I liked Pirelli Scorpion ATR a little better. Side Note: I changed the size from 235/70 R16 to 265/70 R16 and did not get the gearing changed (yet). My avg mileage went from mid 15 to 14. It might be from the wider tire providing more rolling resistance compared to the OEM size tire. To do over again, I would go for 235/75 R16, same width, but an extra inch of height.

I am a firm believer in fluid changes after purchasing a high mileage vehicle for peace of mind. If you are going to service the tranny, I suggest following aldive's synthetic fluid approach. I will be serviceing my 2003 X in the next 2000 miles, and changing the fluid to a synthetic brand. Same for next oil change, and diff fluid change (when I get 'er re-geared to correct for the tire size)

Good luck.
