I am helping a bud out, he has a 99 sport. The slave cylinder went out and i offered to replace it and the clutch. Long story short,, broke off three of the manifold to downpipe bolts... The one that came out was bent! Is there an easier fix to removing these bolts other than yanking the manifolds off? And if I need to remove the manifolds, any insight as to the passenger side? it looks like I will have to remove the upper radiator hose along with the alt just to get to the top side bolts, not sure about the lowers. Any and all info will be greatly appreciated.

you could drill the rest of the broken bolts out then tap(re-thread) the holes.

your situation is the reason that i used 3 different kinds of penetrating oils on mine within 3 or so days before hand to get in all the nook's-n-cranny's. which im very glad i did.

but drill & tap is my opinion to avoid the task ahead of pulling the headers off.

Yeah, I hosed the bolts down for a week with PB Blaster, WD-40 and Liquid Wrench, and still snapped thre of them off:rolleyes: I am going to try and weld a nut onto two of them to see if th eheat from welding will help lossen em up. That just leaves the one that I will attempt to drill and then try an easy out on.:frustrate

damn. they must have been bad. i live in the "salt belt"(ohio) and mine were not that bad off from the sounds of it.

good idea on welding the nut on there, usually works. cant believe i didnt think of that last night.

good luck man.

The realy sad part is, they were not even the slightest bit rusty !, it looks like there is some type of thread locker on them, from what I can see on the one that I was able to break loose.
