need some help with cd changer

im new here just joined yesterday so if im doing this wrong please tell me. heres my problem, my 6 disk changer is in the center console it will pull the cds in but wont read them. i just got this explorer yesterday also. can anyone give me some advice on how to try to fix this? i would like to keep the factory system....thanks

Hi Armyvet, does your radio display say anything? Your changer may have given up the ghost. I think I have one more sitting on the shelf...

ya its says no cd like its not reading it..i went a few minutes ago and tried it worked but when i tried to change to another cd it did it again no cd..tried it again it says no cd i can see it going through all the cds but not reading then...any ideas

also i ran a cd cleaner through it. it seemed to read that but when i tried to run it again it said no cd...thanks for the help...and one more question if i buy a new hu will i have to get rid of the factory cd changer or if i get it fixed can i stiil use it with a new hu?....thanks

You can leave it there, but you won't be able to use it with an aftermarket HU
Unplug the changer, pull out the kleenex thing and you should see a red plug, unplug that for a while so the unit resets itself, hopefully it'll work

Mine does that sometimes, so I just put a switch in the power of the changer and I turn it off, then on again

thanks i got to the plug and tried what u said but its still not working. now can u tell me how to get the changer out? i see a few here and there at yard sales and some used parts shops so id like to maybe get another and if that dont work id like to just get rid of it and get a new hu.....thanks
