Hey Everyone,
I'm gonna not to make this too long for you all to read.
I bought the truck about mid 2015. The body is in really good shape except for the rear hatch not matching due to coming from an explorer. (in an attempt to take the dog to the vet I backed into the neighbors house.) Frame has some surface rust but that isnt anything big deal.
On to the pressing issues.
The transmission was replaced with a brand new one because It was bad when I bought the truck which is why I got it for a steal. Along with that I've put a large ammount of money into it for various issues it had. Suspension issues, various sensors etc. Besides that I can say I've grown quite emotionally attached to it. So getting rid of it really isnt an option.
About 3 months ago...I was coming back from maryland and one of the plugs blew out. Just left the threads stuck in the cylinder head. I couldn't get them out myself because of lack of tools/space where im living at right now. The issue that I'm having is there are 2 more plugs in just as bad or worse shape. I'm afraid to try and get them out because of how bad they look. On top of that, there is a very loud tapping/knocking coming from what seems to be the valve cover area. When the original plug was getting ready to blow, it sounded very similar to how it does now. I had to take it to a shop because of lack of room where im living atm and they were able to get the stuck threads out, but wont touch the other 2 plugs. The motor has 162k on it. What I'm wondering is, with the issues the motor has, along with the fact that the heads don't seem to be in the best of shape. What would you all reccomend to do? Either try and fix all the issues with this engine/ heads, or simply get a remanned engine? The cheaper option is deff going to be prefered here.
Thanks everyone!
