Looking to replace the tires and want to make sure I know the scoop on the minimums specified to keep the explorer safe.

I understand 235 15" 75r is the correct size but what are the other minimum standards to watch for.

Min Load rating?

Min Speed rating?

All terrain tread pattern?

P series tires ok if in all terrain pattern?

Would I gain anything going to an LT tire instead of a P, or just get better wear.

The P series tire I have looked at is an all terrain suv tire with an S speed rating and 2028 load rating (4plies tread, 2plies sidewall). Am I in the ballpark.

An LT tire in a little stronger, cause it support a heavier load, but are more expensive. Unless you carry heavy loads or tow, I would suggest staying away from LT tires, cause they will cost more than normal P tires. My 99 XLS had 235/75R15 Goodyear Wrangler RTS tires stock. These are more of an all season tire than an all terrain tire.
Do you do any off pavement driving or is it mostly city/highway driving. If it is mostly on pavement go with an all season, like the Goodyear RTS, michelin, etc. If you are planning to go off road then go with an all terrain, it will ride a bit rougher than an all season, but has better grip off road.
