get someone to start ur car up for 10 minutes once every other week

That's best. If it's gonna sit, put fuel stabilizer in it and see that the oil and coolant are clean. I'd also put a trickle charger on it.

whats a trickle charger?

A device to keep the battery "topped off". Plugs into the wall and hooks to the battery.

I heard that you were supposed to drain your oil if you're leaving for a while? Is there any truth to this?

From what I've seen, for 13 weeks as long as the oil is clean that's fine, and it may help protect the motor from weather.

yea...13 weeks is not long at all.If you can get someone to start it every 3-4 weeks it will be fine.Even if you can't, don't sweat it.Leave the oil in.

NEVER take out the oil, rust will start to form, which is REALLY bad. I have heard of people putting a little bit of oil in the combustion chamber (thrue the spark plug hole) to prevent rust in the C.C. hope somebody can confirm that..

When winterizing a marine engine, it is a common practice to "fog" the engine. This is usually done with a can of WD-40. Just run the engine, then spray the WD-40 down the carb (or TB) until the engine stalls.

when we store the stang for the winter we change most of the fluids, oil radiator ect... and air the tires up to about 40psi and put it on blocks just high enough so that the weight is off the tires. this prevents the tires from dryrotting. if it is in a garage leave the windows cracked so the air inside and out is awalys at the same temp and humidity. the trickle charger is also a good idea. i would advise against starting it up. it creates condensation in the crankcase and over time can cause rust in the engine.also fuel stabalizer is a really good idea

Thats why it has to be run long enough to burn that out. IE- 10 mins or so.

Thank you for your service to our country.

any time...

I wouldn't do this. Engine damage occurs more when the engine is running on park. If someone starts it up without driving it around then just leave it alone.

I would leave the engine oil alone and just change it 13 weeks later before starting it up. Also, trickle charger does more damage than good on the battery. My father used to use one on his Dodge Ram. It ruined a perfectly good Diehard Gold.
