Hey guys,

something really strange happened yesterday. I drove to class yesterday to take an exam. Engine started up and ran totally fine. When I returned from the exam and tried to start the engine, nothing happened. There was absolutely no electricty in the car. So I got someone to jump-start my car and it started perfectly fine. I then drove home (1 hour) hoping the battery would recharge. When I arrived at home, I turned off my car and started it up again right away. I wouldnt start. Again, all electricity was gone. I checked the battery and it seems to be fine. Also, the stock-alternator seems to be working too since everything works fine when I get jump-started. Something seems to happen right when I turn off the car. All electricity gets cut off.

Does anybody have an idea, whats going on here? Could it be an relay or a fuse somewhere thats causing this problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Take care.

When its "dead" (ie. won't start).... do you have any headlights?? If not then there is a connection problem to your battery or the battery is indeed in some fashion of dead. If you have headlights, then there is power and you need to isolate what if anything else has power... ie. things like accessories (switch on accessory)... etc. This perhaps will tell if you have problems with the key area, power distribution area, or just perhaps a bad connection towards the starter.

One other question, do you have the anti-theft option? (ie. RAP module).

You could have a battery that is going bad. How many volts is it putting out when you put a multimeter on it if available? It should be registerring around 12.4 volts without a load. Has your gauges started acting oddly as of lately? If so, chances are your alternator is going bad. Don't forget to check the basic things like the cables and terminals on the battery. Corrosion is often the cause a no start situation.

Your battery may have just gone bad all at once. It happened to me last year. It showed no sign of getting weak at all. Got in the next day, turned the key and almost no juice what so ever. Just enough to make a couple gauges flicker. Or a cell could have gone bad in the battery killing it. If it ran fine after you jumped it then it sounds like you just need a new battery.

I have a similar problem But i wnet and bought a new battery i hooked it up and then it started but the batt. gauge showed 1/3 power and so I let it run for like 15 minutes iddiling to see if it helped and it didnt, so i drove around for say 10-15 minutes and the charge did not frop or increase on the gauge, I am thinking the 135 amp fuse for the alternator(by the way i dont know were the fuse is and the owners maual is not helpful) Any ideas so i dont have to pay 130 bucks for a new alternator????

SOmething like happened to me. I was camping and my truck decided not to start one day. Checked everything out and was fine. Problem loose battery CABLES.
