I run Tokico shocks, but a lot of guys run Bilstein and are happy with them.

I run monroe sensa track. heck once replaced i had more stopping power after. but there again i have a 93, and i took the factory shocks out.

monroe sensa trac here as well.. never had any problems and if you look on ebay you can usually find a good deal for all four :D

I like Bilsteins, because they are a mono tube gas shock. Bilsteins are pricey. Another option is KYB - they are also a mono tube gas shock, not as beefy as a Bilstein. but a suitable replacement.

If your truck is anything like mine was last year when I changed the original shocks...make sure you have a can of PB handy and a sawzall! I broke a mounting post on one of the front ones, and had to cut the back shocks off as they were so corroded the bolts had no head left on them!

I just went with the cheapy Monroe Gasmatics (the yellow ones). Man are they horrendous! Go with a good shock if you plan on keeping the rig a while.

On a side note...I know you live in the GTA. I might be parting with my Explorer in the spring/summer time frame if I can find a a replacement winter truck. Looking at going with a bit newer winter truck with less body rust. Most likely a Gen 1 Durango so I can swap parts with my Dakota (which I drive in the summer currently).
Anyhow...other then the rust on my explorer...mechically she's sound (drivetrain wise, engine block, tranny, t-case and 4x4 system)

If you or anyone you know wants a spare rig (or doesn't mind a bit of rust to use it as a daily driver)...let me know in the spring time.

All of the suggestions above are great.

I'm currently running the Monroe Sensa shocks on my Trailblazer and I like them a lot. They are similar (same company makes them) to Rancho's offerings for less money.

Bilsteins are also great if you have the bucks...

A word about the Monroes. They take a week or so to break in. They ride like crap before that. I'm on my second set and they both did that. A person that just slaps them on and then comments on the ride quality is probably going to be disapointed right away, but after breaking in, they are one of the best shocks I've run in my 35+ years of automotive work.
