Hello all. Got an issue with my daughter's 2002 Mountaineer V8 AWD. It seems I need to replace the neutral safety switch as the starter won't engage with the switch unless you use a remote starter. The anti theft light is acting like normal good battery and it starts like normal with the remote starter. I went to remove the big nut holding the shift selector onto the input rod at the tranny. The nut does not want to release and it just pulls on the cable. Do you have any tricks to get this off? I pulled hard enough that the gears doesn't line up on the selector inside now and it still won't release. I also can't get the wire plug to release. I really miss the old days of only 2 wires and being able to jump them and be done with it. Thanks for your help!

Has nobody ever had to replace this? It seems like someone out there has had to at some point. Thanks.
