I just bought a new 96 explorer Eddie Bauer edition. I have never owned a Explorer or car like it and was wondering what general maintenance should I get done and what are some simple mods that could make it a little faster? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Get the tranny fluid, and filter changed. Plugs and wires are probably due. As for the mods, an free flowing air filter, or entire cold air kit, , and exhaust would be the place to start.

You might want to consider switching to all synthetic fluids when changing them. In addition, a chip would be a good idea as well.

start out doing a tranny flush/filter replacement... synthetics are good..... and you might want to look into getting a freeflowing exhuast, a www.kustomz.com air fitler adapter kit and a performance chip.....

Im in the same boat . I just picked up a 2000 sport . My first priority is the detailing though. Its a above average looking truck now but I like my vehicles clean . If you want to read a good thread about detailing read BBQHOTTDOGGS thread in the detailing forum . He went into to detail pretty good . Never heard of a clay bar (START LAUGHING NOW) until I read that . When the weather breaks I will be looking at intakes and exhaust . These are the easiest and cheapest ways to add a little HP . Next will probably be a flasher .
