OK: I have "searched" this forum, read scads of comments, and I am still a bit baffled by the results. I don't wan't "ultra handling" (I already have EE sway bars and 1" lower) and I don't want to raise the chassis 4" and go off-roading. I want the most comfortable ride I can manage, with a 97 Mountaineer. I know it's not a luxury car, so I should look at what shocks?

I just got my Rancho RS5000 today, cannot tell you what the ride feels like yet, but I hear it's firm on the highway.

Monroe SensaTracs give an excellent on-road ride. I've got a brand new set you can have for $100 to your door. I replaced them with a set of Ranchos because I wanted something better for our tank-trap roads, and they replaced the old sensa-tracs under warranty. They've never been installed, and include all the mounting hardware and bushings too.
